Book early for summer

When we started, we wanted to build a reputation and a client base of people who either want to return or want to recommend us to their friends and family. Providing great value for money is part of the deal. Having started advertising in June 2013, we found we were fully booked in France within a few weeks.

Experience has shown that those who want to secure a week in the summer holidays need to book in December, or earlier, the year before. We have already started taking bookings for the summer season a year ahead. After a very enjoyable Christmas and New Year, the Kent cottages book up shortly too.

How payment works

In Kent we charge 50 per cent to secure a booking and the balance two months before the stay. At Sol du Mazel it is 35 per cent on booking, 35 per cent three months before and 30 per cent two months before. There is also a security deposit, repaid shortly after the end of the stay. The exact details are shown on the booking form and explained in our booking terms, which are also sent to each guest with the booking form. It is not complicated. We simply try to spread the payment rather than ask for it all in advance.

Reservations made verbally or by email are confirmed only when the deposit has been received and the booking form completed and returned. Reservations are held for a maximum of one week.

All local and other taxes, including the taxe de séjour, are included in the price, as is cleaning and the linen change.
